We will be presenting a keynote at the RAPIDO (Rapid Simulation and Performance Evaluation for Design) workshop at the HiPEAC 2026 conference. The keynote title is “Virtual Platforms for System Architecture, Development, and Test” and it will draw on our long experience with virtual platforms in automotive and embedded.

Virtual platforms, virtual prototypes, and adjacent simulation solutions are used throughout the life cycle of a system. From initial architecture, through to hardware and software implementation, validation, and eventually long-term maintenance.

Different abstractions and model types will be used at different times for different purposes. In general, solving a particular problem will involve integrating a range of models from different domains. The real world is complex and multifaceted, and our simulation solutions will necessarily reflect this. There is no single true model that makes sense across the entire life cycle.

The RAPIDO workshop has been running since 2009, and this year’s edition takes place as part of the HiPEAC 2026 conference in Kraków, Poland, from January 26 to 28. RAPIDO is on the 27th. See you there!
